In a single-family new building, a heat pump with a deep-bore geothermal loop saves more than 2 tons of CO2 per year compared to a modern low-temperature boiler (CO2 emissions: 5.5 tons). (Source: HEA - Fachgemeinschaft für effiziente Energieanwendung e.V., 2004)
On the basis of this study, the CO2-counter is based on the following assumptions: 2 tons of CO2 savings per year and heat pump, independent of the power and heat source (air, water, brine) and considering all heat pumps that have left the plant since the company was founded.
To absorb a ton of CO2, a beech tree has to grow for about 80 years. To compensate for a tons of CO2 annually, an average of 80 trees must be planted.

A medium-sized passenger car with average CO2-emissions of 150 g/km and an average annual mileage of 15,000 km produces 2.25 tons of CO2 per year.
